Work in pairs. Discuss which of the following words you are familiar with. How are they related to e-communication?
The Power of Email
Imagine a typical citizen’s workday. The morning probably starts with a cup of coffee or tea, followed by greetings to colleagues. Then comes the inevitable: logging into the computer. For many of us, this third step has become automatic and dominates the rest of our workday, as we receive and send dozens of emails.
An email is an electronic mail. It is a computer-aided method of exchanging digital text messages from a sender to one or multiple recipients. Emails operate through a network of computers connected by the Internet. Commercial server agencies, such as Yahoo, Gmail, Ymail, and Hotmail, accept text messages from senders, forward them, and instantly deliver them to the recipient’s digital mailbox. If the recipient is not online, the message is stored and delivered later when the recipient connects to the internet. It works instantly—just with a click of your mouse. Email has become a powerful communication tool in modern life.
